Senior Adult food Delivery service once a month for 28 senior homes
81 Senior Adults received a wonderful Christmas party and hand picked Christmas gifts
21 GED/ABE (adult basic education) students attended class and moved closer to a diploma
15 CNA (certified nurse’s aid) students graduated and 9 are employed in the medical field
4 Welding students graduated and a second class of 5 started in 2009
$27,751.10 on Adult Education and Job Training, assisted with a grant from Montgomery County United Way Disadvantaged Children’s Council
Project Independence started in April, 2008 identifying needs in each family and creating classes and life skill groups to start forward movement for family unit
10 Students in the first Financial Literacy Class
7 Students in the first Nutrition Class
24 students are in the current Financial Literacy Class which started 1/27/09
Spanish Only Days are the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. Spanish volunteer groups take pleasure in being able to identify family needs and begin future classes to meet those needs
5th Annual One Life at a Time Fundraiser/Luncheon raised over $6,000
Mission: Possible! Students totaled 35. 19, because of perfect attendance, received Shoes, Clothing Vouchers, $50 Savings Bond, School Supplies and Backpacks. Mission: Possible! Is The Mission summer children’s program serving K-4th grade students of our clients. Reading, Writing, Science, Computer Skills, Math and Bible Study are included.
Feed My Lambs continues to serve not only Mission: Possible! during the summer but continues to serve a local apartment all 12 months. Feed My Lambs is in its 6th year at The Mission and is manned by 10 local churches and organizations.
Project Mammogram headed by Joyce White continues to enroll women and men from The Mission who qualify for free exams and mammograms
13th Annual Thanksgiving at The Mission assisting 358 families (850 individuals)
13th Annual Christmas at The Mission assisting 145 families (632 individuals) for a total of 1,526 gifts. Attendees to Christmas at The Mission are the above students and their families of all the education and life skill classes The Mission offers along with single moms or dads working or attending college, grandparents raising grandchildren and disabled adults with children in the home.
