Morgan Morris is a first grader at Bear Branch Elementary in Kingwood, Texas. Tuesday February 5th is BBE’s 100th day of school celebration. Morgan’s class is going to celebrate by having projects with 100 items to illustrate the number one hundred.

With only five days to finish her project, Morgan said she would like to collect 100 cans of non perishable food, and donate them to Mission Northeast of Porter, Texas. That was no surprise to her parents, Carlos and Jennifer Morris, who have raised Morgan to be very aware of others needs, big & little, local & global, physical & mental.   Morgan Morris said smiling "I think it is a great way to help others, appreciate what we have and finish my homework."

With the help of Mommy and the internet, Morgan sent an email to many friends and family asking for assistance. Lots people donated canned goods. In fact, Morgan got her 100 cans for her project, but also got eleven above her goal. Morgan Morris said "My friends and family really support me and my ideas to change the world one step at a time."

Morgan took the 100 cans of non perishable food and made the number 100 out of them and took a picture to be mounted on a poster board for her school project. This way the children in class could count the tops of the cans.  "I hope many will be blessed by what I do and I hope I get an A+ on my project," said Morgan Morris.

Some friends of the Morris family did not have items to donate so they gave cash donations.  This way Morgan could go shopping. Morgan collected $286 total by the end of the project.

This week Morgan and her mom will drive to Mission Northeast to make the donation and complete her project.  What a way to make a difference and Morgan is only 7 years old!
