Back to School, Buddy Bags, and Purse Bingo

Help fill a Buddy Bag

As our children head back to school, Mission Northeast is praying for each student walking through those school doors. For some children in our community, the excitement of a new school year comes with a real worry: will there be enough food at home this weekend?

That’s why we’re already preparing Buddy Bags. Last school year, we filled 265 bags every week for local students facing food insecurity, and we expect the need to be just as great, or greater, this year.

You can help make sure a child doesn’t face the weekend hungry. We are collecting pop-top ravioli and microwavable cups of macaroni and cheese, or you can sponsor a child’s Buddy Bag for the school year. A simple bag of food may seem small, but to a hungry child, it means they are seen, cared for, and not forgotten.

Back to School Bash

Our Back to School Bash was a wonderful success. Local students received new shoes, socks, underwear, and backpacks to help them start the school year feeling prepared and confident.

We are so thankful to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped make this day possible. Because of your generosity, our kids are heading back to school knowing their community is behind them.

Thank you to Community Transformation Church in New Caney for going above and beyond to help make the bash a wonderful time together.

Purse Bingo was a hit

What a wonderful night. Our first Purse Bingo was filled with laughter, great food, beautiful purses, and an incredible group of people who came together to support Mission Northeast.

We are so grateful to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and helped make the evening a success. Every bingo card played helped support the families we serve, and we can’t wait to do it again.

Praying for our schools

As students, teachers, administrators, bus drivers, and staff head back for a new school year, our Mission Northeast family is covering them in prayer.

  • Wisdom for every teacher
  • Safety for every student and staff member
  • Encouragement for every family
  • A school year filled with growth, kindness, and hope

Join us in praying for our schools and the people who make them a place to learn and grow.

Get involved

Anyone can be a volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of this place. Bring a church, school, business, civic group, or your own family for one morning or a standing week.

On your own, there is room in the food pantry, the clothing center, client services, and special projects. We will find a spot that fits.
