The Heart of the Mission

Last Thursday, September 24, community partners, friends, supporters, board members, volunteers, and staff gathered for Mission Northeast’s annual fundraising dinner. It was an evening filled with gratitude, generosity, friendship, and a shared commitment to caring for our community.

We were honored to hear from and be joined by:

  • Judge Mark Keough

  • Lone Star College President Dr. Melissa Gonzalez

  • Commissioner Matt Gray

  • Sergeant David Miller

  • Fire Chief Howard Rinewalt

We are also grateful for the businesses, churches, organizations, and community partners who continue to stand alongside Mission Northeast:

  • Entergy, represented by Andrew Copeland

  • Insperity, represented by Amy Anderson

  • H-E-B, represented by Blake Willenborg

  • Buster Brown Propane, represented by Jan Peterson and Matt Peterson

  • Stoecker Corporation, represented by John Sellnar

  • East Montgomery County Improvement District

  • Christ the King Lutheran Church

  • Kingwood Women’s Club

  • Northeast Hospital Foundation

  • Lone Star College

These partnerships are about so much more than one evening. They represent people and organizations who believe in strengthening our community and caring for our neighbors.

At Mission Northeast, we have the privilege of walking alongside families during some of their most difficult seasons: providing food, clothing, and housewares, helping families remain housed through rent and utility assistance, feeding children through our Buddy Bag program, supporting seniors, and creating pathways forward through education and job training. We do not do any of this alone.

To every sponsor, donor, speaker, community partner, board member, volunteer, staff member, and friend who helped make this evening possible: thank you. Thank you for showing up, giving generously, and believing in the people we serve. Most of all, we are grateful for God’s faithfulness to Mission Northeast and for the people he continues to bring alongside this ministry. There is so much more ahead, and we are grateful to have this community walking with us.

Prayer points

  • Pray for the Sharing is Caring Food Drive on October 24. This food drive is a way to involve the community in helping others through the upcoming holidays. Please pray for everyone involved.

  • Pray for community groups who volunteer. We are thankful for each group who comes to serve, and we ask for prayer as they continue to help in such an impactful way.

  • Pray for the upcoming holidays. Pray for volunteers, for the donations needed, and that as many people as possible would have a more peaceful holiday because they received the help they needed.

Anyone can be a volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of this place. Bring a church, school, business, civic group, or your own family for one morning or a standing week.

On your own, there is room in the food pantry, the clothing center, client services, and special projects. We will find a spot that fits.
